The Honorable Judge Deborah Geraldine BLEDSOE FORD is a stalwart of the "Trail Docket" for the 36th District Court. In addition to Just & Fair adjudication of criminal cases—She also, quite effectively, handles; Preliminary examinations, arraignments, traffic and drunk-driving cases, civil lawsuits and landlord tenant disputes.
Judge FORD brought a wealth of experience to the bench, when first elected in 2004. Her broad & exceptional law-career included positions with: The Juvenile Defenders Office, City of Detroit Law Department, Clerk to Federal Judge, Julian Cook, at the U.S. District Court …As well as a very successful tenure in private practice, as a trial-lawyer.
A 1981 graduate of the Boston College School of Law. Judge FORD also holds two Masters Degrees from the University of Michigan, and a Bachelors Degree from Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia.
Judge FORD is married to Attorney Jerome R. Watson a managing partner at Miller, Canfield, Paddock, & Stone Law Firm. They have a 14-year-old daughter, and two adult sons.

Judge FORD is the daughter of the late Geraldine BLEDSOE FORD the first African American female judge in Michigan(1966) and one of the first women judges in the country; and she is the niece of the late William Felga Bledsoe (1984) a former jurist in the Highland Park District Court. Judge FORD and her mother are the first mother-daughter judges in Michigan.
